Tuck joins list of ND players with two rings

Justin Tuck notched three tackles, a pair of sacks and forced a safety in the Giants' 21-17 Super Bowl win Sunday over the Patriots, their second title-game triumph over New England in the last four years. And he's now on a short list of former Notre Dame players to win multiple Super Bowls.

Tuck is the 11th former Irish player to win at least two Super Bowls, joining Mark Bavaro, Rocky Bleier, Nick Buoniconti, Eric Dorsey, Dave Duerson, David Givens, Terry Hanratty, Bob Kuechernberg, Joe Montana and Steve Sylvester.

Montana and Bleier lead the group with four titles apiece.

Notre Dame has had an alum on the Super Bowl winner the past three years and in eight of the last nine.

Thirty-two of the 46 Super Bowl champions have had a former Notre Dame player on their roster. With safety Sergio Brown playing for the losing Patriots on Sunday, 16 Super Bowls have now featured former Irish players on each team.

Tim McDonnell also has a connection to the Giants' win, as the Notre Dame director of player personnel is the nephew of Giants president and CEO John Mara.
