Notre Dame chat wrap: May 11

Thanks to those who took a break from the (finally) nice Midwest weather and stopped by the Notre Dame chat today. A replay, as always, can be found here.

Some of what you missed ...

  • Casey (South Bend): Why is everyone making a big deal out of the potential jet lag after returning from Ireland? Jet lag when returning to the US is easy, you just stay up until you would normally go to bed. Purdue is toast.

  • Matt Fortuna (2:20 PM): Because I'm betting none of these kids (or pretty close to none) have been there before. It will just be different, and you don't know how they'll respond. This is a group that lost its home opener to USF last year. Purdue should be much better than USF last year. Does that mean I'm predicting an upset? No, but it's certainly something to keep an eye on, and it's probably the closest thing to a "gimme" game ND has in the first two months.

  • Krystal (NC): Matt, What percentage do you think the NCAA will grant Aaron Lynch the transfer waiver to allow him to play this year?

  • Matt Fortuna (2:28 PM): Krystal, normally I'd say verrry slim, but the NCAA has seemed to be more lenient on these things recently, and he is technically going home. That being said, his own mother took to Twitter to disagree with his decision, so I'd say it's unlikely we see Aaron on the field next season.

  • Austin (South Bend, Ind.): you are BK, you have to pick a starting qb right now. who do you pick?

  • Matt Fortuna (2:30 PM): Andrew Hendrix. He has game experience and loads of potential. The offseason could certainly change that, though, if Everett Golson continues to improve.

  • Tony (Richmond, Calif.): Who could potentially have a breakout season on the defensive line/front seven for the Irish?

  • Matt Fortuna (2:42 PM): Tony, Ishaq Williams has the potential to be a beast on the outside. He received a lot more looks with Prince Shembo out for most of the spring, and I'd expect him to step up this season.
