Player of the week: Notre Dame

Another week, another touching performance from the fans for Manti Te'o, who has been playing through tragic times lately.

Another week, another FBS Independent defensive player of the week honor for the senior.

Another week, another Lott IMPACT player of the week honor for the linebacker.

Yes, Te'o has been on a roll lately on the field. And he is our player of the week for Notre Dame for the second straight game as well. He has picked up numerous weekly honors and is starting to gain some serious steam in the national spotlight.

Te'o led Notre Dame past Michigan for the first time in his career, picking off Denard Robinson twice, hurrying him once and recording eight total tackles, including one for a loss. The student section was decked out in leis to celebrate Te'o and his Hawaiian roots, and the senior rushed into the stands immediately following the final horn of the 13-6 victory, not unlike he did one week earlier at Michigan State.

Te'o will get to return home for a few days this week during Notre Dame's bye, his first trip back since the deaths of both his grandmother and his girlfriend in consecutive days two weeks ago. Te'o, who posted a touching picture on Twitter the morning after the Michigan win, has played through it all, lifting Notre Dame to its best start in 10 years along the way.
