Standifer commits to Ole Miss

Three-star cornerback Anthony Standifer (Crete, Ill./Crete-Monee), whose flirtation with Notre Dame was held up because of a Spanish course, has committed to Ole Miss.

The 6-foot-1, 180-pounder is the 18th commitment of Hugh Freeze's first class with the Rebels.

After Standifer decommitted from Michigan in December, the Irish appeared to be the front-runner for ESPNU's No. 38 cornerback, but Standifer was lacking sufficient Spanish credits to be admitted into Notre Dame.

Here is part of his scouting report from ESPN:

From a pure measurables and on the hoof standpoint, Standifer is a good-looking prospect. Tall, long with a leaner, yet deceptively built strong frame and the room to fill out. Not a burner but flashes good range and better play-speed than his testing times indicate. Instinctive with good ball awareness skills in deep coverage. Soundly reads quarterback and tracks the throw. Turns into a receiver when the ball is in the air. Athletic with good length and arm extension to match up with taller receivers.
