Former Notre Dame TE Chase Hounshell to play sixth year at Ohio State

Chase Hounhsell's new home is a bit closer to his original home.

The former Notre Dame tight end is transferring to Ohio State, the Kirtland, Ohio native announced Monday on Twitter.

The move is a reunion of sorts for Hounshell, who had initially committed to Urban Meyer in 2010, back when the head coach was at Florida.

Hounshell was granted a sixth year of eligibility by the NCAA after an injury-ravaged career with the Irish, as shoulder issues caused him to miss all but the one game -- the 2012 opener -- during the 2012 and 2013 seasons.

The 6-foot-4.5, 255-pound Hounshell played as a defensive end as a true freshmen with the Irish in 2011. He saw reserve action in three games in 2014 before switching to tight end for his fifth season, in 2015. He played in all 13 games and saw action in three, catching one pass for six yards.
