ALAMEDA, Calif. -- Oakland Raiders running backs Darren McFadden and Jeremy Stewart were both ruled out of Sunday's home game against the Kansas City Chiefs, while defensive lineman Vance Walker and strong safety Tyvon Branch were listed as doubtful.
For the oft-injured McFadden, it will be the sixth game he will miss this season and the 19th of the Raiders' past 39 contests. He has never played more than 13 games in a season in his six-year NFL career.
McFadden will be a free agent this offseason.
Raiders coach Dennis Allen was asked why the Raiders don't simply place him on season-ending injured reserve to use the roster space.
"I think that's something that we've got to consider," Allen said. "Obviously, with the running back situation, with the way it's been, last week we had all three of them out for the game, and you've got to take that into consideration too.
"He's close, but we've got two more games after this, so we'll have to see where we go."
Allen was asked the same about Branch, who began practicing last week for the first time since breaking a leg in Week 2.
"Any time you get injuries and you've got two games left in the season, nobody has a crystal ball to know exactly when a guy's going to be back," Allen said. "But you have to make the best decisions that you can and forecast whether or not they have a chance to come back and help you.
"And if they do, you keep them up. If not, then you've got to put them on IR."
Following, then, is the Raiders' status report for Sunday:
