Raiders preseason opponents announced

The Oakland Raiders have announced their preseason opponents and tentative dates with a decidedly NFC North feel.

The Raiders will open the exhibition season at the Minnesota Vikings between Aug. 7 and Aug. 11 before playing host to the Detroit Lions between Aug. 14-18.

Week 3 of the preseason, generally considered the most important in terms of playing time for starters, will have the Raiders playing at the Green Bay Packers on Aug. 22 with kickoff at 5 p.m.

The exhibition season will then close in Oakland on Aug. 28 against the Super Bowl champion Seattle Seahawks.

Also, as training camps open 15 days before a team’s preseason opener, the Raiders will open camp in Napa between July 23 and July 27.

The Raiders’ regular season schedule will be announced later this month, though their opponents and location are already known. Oakland will play host to the Buffalo Bills, Houston Texans, San Francisco 49ers, Arizona Cardinals, San Diego Chargers, Denver Broncos, Kansas City Chiefs and Miami Dolphins (in London on Sept. 28), while traveling to the New England Patriots, New York Jets, Cleveland Browns, St. Louis Rams, Seattle and the Chargers, Broncos and Chiefs.
