Changes:

  • The size of the teams for men's and women's gymnastics has dropped from six to five. In the preliminary team competition, four gymnasts will compete on each apparatus with three scores counting. For the team finals, three gymnasts will compete on each apparatus, with all three scores counting (same as in past Olympics).

  • Women's routines now include eight skills rather than 10. The men still use 10 skills.

  • All participants must turn 16 in the calendar year 2011 to participate in the 2011 World Artistic Gymnastics Championships. Previously, any gymnast age-eligible for the Olympics was allowed to compete in the world championships.
