Oregon picks up Texas transfer

Marcus Davis, a former prep All-American safety who saw action as a true freshman at Texas last year, has transferred to Oregon.

Davis, who had 10 tackles, including one quarterback sack, in eight games for the Longhorns in 2009, will sit out the 2010 season but will have three years of eligibility remaining.

The Texas native was ranked 78th on the 2009 ESPNU 150 before enrolling at Texas in time to participate in its spring drills.

Texas suspended Davis in November after he was arrested and charged with suspicion of driving while intoxicated and possession of a controlled substance. Davis later pleaded guilty to reduced charges.
