NEW YORK -- The Pac-10 can count.
When Utah and Colorado join the conference, the new name will be the "Pac-12."
That was the big announcement as the Pac-10 began its national tour in the W Hotel in Manhattan, where the conference plans to start "telling our story more aggressively and in a more dynamic way," said commissioner Larry Scott.
That included a five-minute video, the first portion of which focused on the history of the West Coast, the middle portion on the excellence of the conference schools and the third portion on ... wait for it ...
After Scott spoke briefly, the coaches were dispatched to tables, which they shared with their geographic rivals.
Speaking of geographic rivals: The only piece of early snarkiness here is that UCLA coach Rick Neuheisel arrived five minutes late and USC coach Lane Kiffin was the only coach not wearing a tie.
Yeah, I know. Pac-10 blog goes "E! News."
