Final: USC 30, California 9

USC has now won eight consecutive games against California. And the Golden Bears have lost six conference games in a row.

USC is now 5-1 and 3-1 in the Pac-12. The Trojans should be returning to the AP poll. And Cal, 3-3 and 0-3 in conference play, is now in trouble. That includes coach Jeff Tedford.

USC whipped the sloppy Bears 30-9 on Thursday night at San Francisco's AT&T Park.

Cal had five turnovers, including three interceptions from QB Zach Maynard. On a night when USC QB Matt Barkley was not at his best, Bears miscues were the difference.

USC led 20-0 at the break and Cal never made a serious challenge.

USC's schedule gets tougher: It is at Notre Dame on Oct. 22 and plays host to Stanford on the 29th.

Cal's schedule is more manageable. It hosts Utah next week, then plays UCLA, Washington State and Oregon State.

Cal and Tedford need to win those games or things could get uncomfortable in Berkeley.
