Oregon news and notes

Matt Lubick has been hired as Oregon's passing game coordinator and wide receivers coach, the school announced Monday night.

Lubick, who spent the past three years in a similar capacity at Duke, has ties to the conference, having previously worked at Arizona State and Oregon State. He takes over for Scott Frost "whose role on staff will be changing this offseason," according to the release.

"First and foremost, Matt is a great person with tremendous character," said new Oregon head coach Mark Helfrich. "His football pedigree and knowledge of both sides of the ball make him an ideal addition to our staff. Matt's reputation as a clinical coach and tireless recruiter are well-earned."

Lubick also served as Duke's recruiting coordinator and he was one of three finalists for the AFCA Assistant Coach of the Year and a nominee for the Broyles Award. You can check out the full release here.

The hiring comes on the heels of Oregon and Virginia announcing a home-and-home series that will begin Sept. 7, 2013, in Charlottesville, Va. The Cavaliers will make the return trip to Autzen Stadium in 2016.
