Husky Stadium gets a new surface

A new FieldTurf synthetic playing surface will be installed next month in Washington's Husky Stadium, replacing the nine-year-old turf that was originally installed during the summer of 2000.

It's going to cost $350,000, money, the school says, that will come from the athletic department's operating budget.

Poor Washington State. If plans go through to play the Apple Cup at Qwest Field from now on, the Cougars will never get to sink their cleats into the plush new carpet.
