Couple of quick notes from my chat with Utah coach Kyle Whittingham that didn't make the story on his Utes anticipating the jump into Pac-12 play.
Asked him about quarterback Jordan Wynn and the shoulder surgery that knocked him out of the Las Vegas Bowl and will keep him out of spring practices. Whittingham said that Wynn is "doing great as far as his rehab. He's right on schedule." Wynn, however, won't start full-speed throwing until May.
Whittingham said the upside of that is establishing a pecking order behind Wynn and getting the backups more work with the first -team.
As for other key players who are definitely out this spring, Whittingham listed linebacker J.J. Williams, safety Greg Bird and tight end Dallin Rogers.
