USC adds a commitment

USC has received a commitment from Scott Starr (Norco, Calif.), one of the top linebackers on the West Coast.

"This really is a dream come true for me. Ever since I was little I wanted to play football for USC and to have this become a reality is really amazing," he told ESPN's Greg Biggins.

The 6-foot-2, 220-pound prospect also had offers from Arizona, Arizona State, Boise State, Colorado, Nevada, Oregon, San Diego State, UCLA, Vanderbilt, Washington and Washington State.

The Trojans, who can only hand out 15 scholarships -- 10 fewer than a full class -- due to NCAA sanctions, now have nine commitments for their 2012 recruiting class. Five are members of the ESPNU 150 Watch list.
