Last week we gave you our thoughts on which Pac-12 team had the best defense -- at least on paper -- looking ahead to the 2012 season.
As we both noted, there is not a defense in the conference that isn't without flaws -- be it significant holes to fill or depth issues. Kevin Gemmell backed Stanford with six of the starting front seven returning next season -- plus the expected return of linebacker Shayne Skov and some hungry young players looking to get more playing time.
Ted Miller had a different take, picking Utah, led by defensive tackle Star Lotulelei -- the top defensive lineman in the conference last season.
Are we missing something? Is it USC with its complete back seven returning? What about Cal? It had the top-ranked defense in the conference last season. The Bears are losing six starters next year, but they have a ton of young talent returning that played last season. Oregon should be solid again next season. The Ducks return stud safety John Boyett, and they ranked second in the conference last year in yards per play.
So which team do you think has the best defense heading into the 2012 campaign?
