USC's season ended badly, and the publicity around the program and coach Lane Kiffin hasn't exactly been sparkly of late, but reinforcements have arrived.
Seven new players have been added to the roster and will participate in spring practices. Six of the players graduated early from high school, while the seventh, Darreus Rogers, previously signed with the Trojans in February 2012 but did not enroll then because he wasn't cleared academically by the NCAA.
The seven players are:
NAME, POS, HT, WT, HOMETOWN (HIGH SCHOOL)
Kenny Bigelow, DL, 6-3, 295, Elkton, Md. (Eastern Christian Academy)
Max Browne, QB, 6-5, 215, Sammamish, Wash. (Skyline HS)
Su’a Cravens, DB, 6-3, 215, Murrieta, Calif. (Vista Murrieta HS)
Justin Davis, RB, 6-1, 215, Stockton, Calif. (Lincoln HS)
Chris Hawkins, DB, 6-0, 170, Rancho Cucamonga, Calif. (Rancho Cucamonga HS)
Leon McQuay III, DB, 6-2, 185, Seffner, Fla. (Armwood HS)
Darreus Rogers, WR, 6-2, 195, Compton, Calif. (Carson HS)
Based on recruiting rankings and national honors, this is an elite group.
Browne and Cravens were the USA Today offensive and defensive national players of the year, respectively, while Browne also was the Gatorade National Player of the Year. Four of the new Trojans are ranked as five-star players by various recruiting experts and the others are listed as four-star players. Some recruiting outlets have Browne, Cravens and Bigelow as the top players at their positions nationally.
