It looks like the 2014 quarterback recruiting class will be slightly down this season, but that doesn't mean Pac-12 teams won't be hunting QBs from across the country. In fact, it might mean things are more competitive.
With the ESPN 150 coming on Thursday, ESPN recruiting's Tom Luginbill has broken down his top-10 QBs, at least to this point of the 2013 offseason.
Here are the ones who already have Pac-12 offers.
QB-DT Deshaun Watson (Gainesville, Ga./Gainesville): Committed to Clemson but offered by USC and Oregon.
Says Luginbill: "He possesses average strength at this stage, but with the upside to really bulk up. He is a very savvy and confident player with a nice feel for the game and a presence for what is going on around him. He's poised and calm."
QB-PP David Cornwell (Norman, Okla./Norman North): Offered by Washington State.
Says Luginbill: "Cornwell not only possesses exactly what you want physically in terms of stature and tools, but he is a much better athlete than you might think. Big, strong and poised with the natural arm talent to strike any region of the field with ease. Has a Joe Flacco feel to him."
QB-PP Keller Chryst (Palo Alto, Calif./Palo Alto): Offered by Arizona State, Stanford and USC.
Says Luginbill: "Chryst reminds us of a stronger-armed Chad Pennington and he works almost exclusively from under center, which is becoming more and more rare. He is fundamentally sound in terms of his drop, set and release. His drop speed and setup is quick and consistent. He is what you would call a pocket passer who is comfortable when he has to throw on the run."
QB-DT Justice Hansen (Edmond, Okla./Santa Fe): Committed to Oklahoma but also offered by Arizona State.
Says Luginbill: "Hansen has a real riverboat gambler feel to him. He has an excellent combination of height, bulk, strength and mobility, and he is only going to fill out more. He is a quick, sure decision maker who can extend plays with movement when the pattern doesn't express itself on rhythm."
QB-PP Kyle Allen (Scottsdale, Ariz./Desert Mountain): Offered by Arizona, Arizona State and UCLA.
Says Luginbill: "He makes quick decisions in rhythm with the pattern. He has very good poise under pressure and the physical toughness to make throws under pressure."
QB-DT Jerrod Heard (Denton, Texas/John H. Guyer): Committed to Texas by offered by Arizona and Arizona State.
Says Luginbill: "He is likely a more accomplished runner than passer at this stage. He is capable of making good, quick decisions on the zone read in the run game -- he is well versed here."
