Over the past couple of weeks, Arizona State has been leaking details about its Pat Tillman-themed, alternate uniforms for Thursday night’s home game against Oregon. On Wednesday night, the full uniform was revealed.
The uniform was designed in collaboration with the Tillman family and the Pat Tillman Foundation and is part of the school’s weeklong “Salute to Service.”
The PT-42 uniforms replicate the uniforms from the 1996 Arizona State team and its Rose Bowl appearance.
“Pat Tillman Foundation and Arizona State University have a proud history of supporting our nation’s veterans and military spouses," said Marie Tillman, president and co-founder of the Pat Tillman Foundation, in a statement released from the school. “This special tribute honors Pat’s example as an athlete, scholar and soldier, while raising awareness and academic support for the Tillman Scholars who are carrying on his legacy. We’re grateful to Coach (Todd) Graham, the players and adidas for empowering these leaders as they continue their service to our country.”
The Sun Devils received special permission from the NCAA to have Tillman’s name on the back of every jersey.
