It would have been a great game -- and a great road trip for both sets of fans -- but Georgia and Oregon won't play in 2015 and 2016 after the game contract was canceled.
Hmm. There is this from the Athens Banner-Herald.
The cancellation is a move away from Georgia’s philosophy under former athletic director Damon Evans of scheduling high-profile nonconference games in other regions of the country.
Oregon is not undergoing any such policy change, by the way. See a recent contract with LSU in 2011 for a game in Cowboys Stadium.
And then there's this quote from the new Georgia AD.
“We think we’re going a long way this week, try Eugene, Ore.,” [Greg] McGarity said. “That’s even further. It’s not a lot of fun when you see the itinerary when you get back into Athens at 6 a.m. on Sunday morning like will be the situation this Sunday.”
Anyone out there think a certain once-frequent participant in the Pac-10 blog's comment section played a role in this? Or did ducktails777 just run him off?
