UW notes: Wells tweaks Achilles

SEATTLE -- Hard-luck Washington safety Jason Wells hurt his right Achilles tendon during Monday's evening practice. While the injury isn't supposed to be serious, it's noteworthy that Wells missed spring practice after he tore the same tendon.

Wells missed the entire 2008 season due to injury and has been riddle with a variety of injuries throughout his career, which has included 11 starts.

Couple of other notes.

  • Praise a position group, jinx a position group. The Huskies wide receivers struggled with drops much of Monday.

  • While Chris Polk, Willie Griffin and Demitrius Bronson are listed atop the depth chart at tailback, Johri Fogerson has been impressive since his recent switch from safety, a move he was happy to make. The 6-foot-1, 191-pound sophomore has shown nice hands and a physical running style.

  • The Huskies experimented with a number of different combinations on the offensive line. It doesn't appear a clear pecking order has been established yet.
