Cody Parkey understands burden of starting

Cody Parkey kicked field goals from 54 and 53 yards in the preseason finale.

It was enough to outduel Alex Henery and earn the rookie a starting spot on the Philadelphia Eagles.

Parkey must produce against the Jaguars in the opener or questions will follow. He's highly aware of that fact.

"Regardless if I'm a 10-year starter or a rookie, there are always going to be questions and thoughts and concerns, so I'm just going to go out and do the best I can," Parkey told the Wilmington (Del.) News Journal.

Coach Chip Kelly doesn't seem concerned.

The Eagles made a tough decision and they'll stick with it.

"Well, I don't have another kicker, so it's not like we're going to put the No. 2 guy in," Kelly told reporters. "So he's going to kick. I'm thinking about today, so he's going to go. You can be the doomsayer and worry about the negative part of it. I'm worried about being positive and let's go. So he's our kicker."
