A deal reached Sunday between the Philadelphia Eagles and undrafted Nebraska quarterback Taylor Martinez has been voided because he failed a physical, according to a report on the website HuskerOnline.
According to the report, Martinez's father Casey said a foot injury had not fully healed, likely causing his son's failed physical. Taylor Martinez had agreed to work out as either a wide receiver or cornerback with the Eagles.
CSNPhilly.com noted that Martinez wasn't invited to the scouting combine in February in Indianapolis but that the Eagles attended his pro day.
Martinez is considering surgery to repair his injury, according to HuskerOnline.
"It's just another obstacle for Taylor that he will overcome as he has since high school," Casey Martinez told the website in a text message. "We can't believe it. The Eagles treated him great the brief time he was there. It's crushing. It was a perfect fit for him."
