PITTSBURGH -- A day after Ben Roethlisberger completed more than 76 percent of his passes in a 19-6 win over the Jets, the Steelers quarterback showed that he has pretty good timing off the field as well.
Roethlisberger and his wife, Ashley, announced they are having a second child Monday night on his website.
Unlike with their first child, Benjamin Jr., there won’t be any potential conflicts with the Steelers’ season.
The news that Roethlisberger broke on bigben7.com: We are both excited and blessed to announce that we’re expecting baby #2 in the spring! – Ben & Ashley.
The Roethlisbergers’ first child, Benjamin Jr., was born Nov. 21 of last year. The Steelers played four days later but Roethlisberger wouldn’t have had to make a choice had his son arrived a little bit later.
He did not play in the Steelers’ Nov. 25 game at Cleveland because of a right shoulder injury.
The Roethlisbergers didn’t offer any other details about the birth of their second child other than it will happen during the offseason.
Roethlisberger has his weekly radio show later this morning, and the topic of his becoming a father for the second time will surely be broached.
