James Harrison likes weights. He eats them, basically, a nice snack between protein shakes. This we know. But Harrison's inspired regimen, shown daily on Instagram, lends a window into his plans to return for a 14th NFL season.
A Harrison retirement, considered a possibility in January, would be a major shock at this point.
The Pittsburgh Steelers basically acknowledged this during their post-draft news conference. General manager Kevin Colbert said he plans for Harrison to be at training camp "unless there have been some tweets from the desert," a comment that drew laughter from the room. Harrison trains in the Phoenix area.
Added coach Mike Tomlin: "He's working out awfully hard for a retired guy."
Maybe Harrison isn't ready to retire if he's braiding his facial hair, his latest social media display.
Once Harrison returns, he might have a friend in sixth-round pick Travis Feeney, who sounds a little bit like James Harrison.
Said Colbert about his new pass-rusher from Washington: "He flies around. He puts his body in some reckless places and does it without concern."
Sounds like the Steelers' pass rush will have plenty of spice.
