Power Rankings: No. 27 Pittsburgh Steelers

A weekly examination of the Steelers' ESPN.com Power Ranking:

Preseason: 16 | Last week: No. 29 | ESPN.com Power Ranking since 2002

The Steelers made a modest move in the rankings after finally breaking through for their first win of the season. The Steelers played their most complete game in beating the Jets 19-6 as the defense rebounded from a subpar showing against the Vikings in London and the offense found its footing after a queasy start. Here is a breakdown of the voting:

Ashley Fox: 27

Mike Sando: 25

Kevin Seifert: 28

John Clayton: 29

Dan Graziano: 27

Jamison Hensley: 27

The Steelers’ ranking may be a tad low considering teams such as the Raiders are still in front of them. But it’s not like the Steelers beat the Jets with Joe Namath playing quarterback (“Broadway Joe” was at MetLife Stadium on Sunday, but only as a spectator). The Steelers have to string some wins together before they make a significant climb in the rankings. Next up for them is the Ravens, who are No. 12 despite starting the season just 3-3.
