The Playbook college football TV guide

We all have busy lives. Things to do. We can’t watch every college football game. So here are the best five you should watch this week. Five isn’t a lot. (All times are Eastern.)

5. No. 2 LSU at Auburn -- 7:00 p.m. on ESPN

Gene Chizik’s pregame pep talk: “We beat Louisiana-Monroe last week in overtime. How much different can Louisiana State really be? It’s just different uniforms. And different and larger bodies in those uniforms. And different and far superior skills in those bodies. That’s it.”

4. No. 22 Arizona at No. 3 Oregon -- 10:30 p.m. on ESPN

Arizona and Oregon are third and fifth respectively in total offense this season in Division I-A. Oregon’s uniforms will look conservative compared to Autzen Stadium’s flaming scoreboard.

3. No. 15 Kansas State at No. 6 Oklahoma -- 7:50 p.m. on CBS

This is one of three games that will be on at once on Saturday night featuring a ranked team taking on another ranked team. It might be a good night to head to a sports bar. Or, it might be a good day to head to a sports bar to drink until you’re dumb enough to justify buying yourself two additional flat screen TVs.

2. No. 18 Michigan at No. 11 Notre Dame -- 7:30 p.m. on NBC

The last time there was this much buzz around Notre Dame football, Charlie Weis was on the sideline. You can read more about that era in the book “The New Gold Standard: Charlie Weis and Notre Dame’s Rise to Glory,” available on Amazon.com for one cent.

1. No. 10 Clemson at No. 4 Florida State -- 8:00 p.m. on ABC

This is a huge game for the perception of the ACC conference because no matter the outcome, an ACC team will beat a ranked team on national television. Take that, HATERS.
