Mag Minute: Tennis star Martina Navratilova

What would an Olympic medal have meant to you?

I don’t think it would have changed my career that much, but it would’ve been nice to win one for the U.S. I think I would’ve won it if I’d had a chance in my prime.

What is one thing you always have with you (and you can’t say a phone)?

Driver’s license. My iPad. Oh, and my pillow. I always have my pillow when I travel.

Who would you want to play you in your biopic?

Anjelica Huston, when she was younger.

What is the best advice you ever received?

My grandmother told me to be patient. I don’t go by it all the time, but I try.

Who is the most media-savvy athlete?

Roger Federer. He says all the right things. No matter what happens, he always comes out on the right side.

If you could go to dinner with one person, dead or alive, whom would it be?

Katherine Hepburn. And Leonardo Da Vinci. Can he come, too?

Which living person do you most admire?

President Obama. He has the toughest job, and our country has never been more contentious. He has absolutely no chance of pleasing most people, and no matter what he does he’s going to be criticized for it. It’s like if you win a great match, and people still criticize you. That’s hard.

What is your guilty pleasure?

Food. Just food. I love to eat. But as I’m getting older, I can’t eat as much, and that’s annoying to me.

What movie have you seen more than any other?

"The Sound of Music." It just makes me feel good. And "Silence of the Lambs." Whenever that’s on TV, I can’t turn it off. I end up watching it every time.

What is your secret hidden talent?

I can juggle, but that’s not really a big deal.

What is your least favorite chore?

Unpacking. Half the time, when I’m unpacking I’m already thinking about what I have to pack on the next trip.

What is your most irrational fear?

It was being embarrassed in public, probably by dancing in public, but I conquered that with "Dancing with the Stars." So nothing now.

What song is stuck in your head these days?

I love “Bad Romance” by Lady Gaga. I think it’s one of the all-time great songs. And I love Kelly Clarkson’s “Stronger.”

What place in the world do you most want to visit?

Machu Picchu. It’s on my bucket list. It’s one of those overwhelming, spiritual, awe-inspiring places that makes you feel like you’re part of something bigger but also extremely insignificant.
