Martin wants Gamecocks to be like Pitbull

South Carolina head basketball coach Frank Martin took in a Pitbull show backstage Tuesday night in Atlanta and tweeted along during the concert.

Yes! The Gamecocks definitely need a little of that Pitbull passion. But Martin shouldn’t stop at Pitbull. Some of the other top rappers can be used for basketball instruction, as well.

“I'm bouncin’ on my toe / watch me super soak dat ### / I’ma pass it to Arab / Then he gon’ pass it to the low” -- Soulja Boy

These lyrics by Soulja Boy stress how important ball movement is in finding an open man in the post.

“It’s getting hot in here / so take off all your clothes.” -- Nelly

Here Nelly teaches players that staying cool is important during hot practices and games. Safety first!

“The editor, director plus I'm my own boss / So posh, nails fierce with the gold gloss / Which means nobody getting over me / I got the swag and it's pumping out my ovaries.” -- Kreayshawn

Kreayshawn knows how it is. If players want to be great and earn respect, they must dress the part on and off the court.

“I know it’s my mistake / Baby, why you got to misbehave? / All you gotta do is give me another chance / and I’ll try to be a better man.” -- Chet Haze

The best athletes acknowledge their mistakes and weaknesses, then vow to improve. So true. Tom Hanks’ rapping son should get a coaching job after dropping that wisdom. Unfortunately, that might mean he’d have to stop rapping. Too bad.
