My how things change. In 2007, the Heat were defending champs and played host to local glitterati such as Dolphins coaching great Don Shula and Mr. Margaritaville, Jimmy Buffett. A year later, the team seems like it's careening down Pat Riley's oil-slicked coif, having tanked 66 places in our overall Rankings. And these days, you're lucky to spy Heat has-beens at American Airlines Arena. ("Hey, is that Rony Seikaly?!") Chalk it up to a bloated payroll ($73.8 million, seventh highest in the NBA) that counts among its line entries $6.7M for center Mark Blount (averaging 8.4 ppg this season) and $2.2M for guard Smush Parker (now with the Clippers). Given the Heat's dismal season, wins are costing a league-topping $4.9 million each. Yes, worse even than the Knicks. But hey, there's plenty of parking available. - Eddie Matz
