OMAHA, Neb. -- Michael Jenkins had 19 points and four
assists to lead Nebraska-Omaha to a 75-60 win over fourth-ranked
South Dakota in the North Central Conference on Saturday.
The Mavericks (18-4, 4-3) used a 9-0 run midway through the
second half to snap the Coyotes' five-game winning streak and their
own four-game skid against USD.
Jenkins was one of five UNO players in double figures. Jerry
Bennett and Denny Johnston scored 12 points apiece, Andrew Bridger
added 11 and Justin Peterson 10.
Bennett also had 13 rebounds, helping UNO outrebound the Coyotes
The Mavericks also shot 46 percent in the first half to take a
43-29 lead at the break.
USD (19-2, 4-2) shot just 20 percent from 3-point range in the
first half and finished at 30 percent.
UNO led 31-27 with 3:15 left in the half, but the Mavericks went
on a 12-2 run to go up 14 at the break. The Coyotes didn't get
closer than seven points in the second half.
Dylan Grimsley had 19 points to lead USD. Eric Hall added 14
points and eight rebounds.
USD turned the ball over 17 times.
