60 Year Old Skateboarder Makes Music Video Debut in The Moth & The Flame's "Young & Unafraid"

Today marks the first day of X Games Austin 2015. We figured what better way to kick off the weekend then to highlight alternative rockers, The Moth & The Flame, and the video for their latest single "Young & Unafraid" featuring the kick ass, 60 year old skateboarder, Neal "The Dude" Unger.

The Moth & The Flame, also known as TMTF, teamed up with Director Rebecca Thomas to come up with the idea for the video. It eventually became clear that they wanted the focus to be on skateboarding, the lyrical message of the song and none other than the young-at-heart, Neal Unger. The band described working with Neal as "inspiring and fun" and characterized him as "philosophical and unpretentious".

Besides being an amazing skater he [Neal] embodied the song. The music is about being willing to take risks, making your own path, to follow your heart, and not apologize to anyone for it. It’s not about age. It’s about determination and confidence. It’s not about what others expect of you. It’s about what you expect of yourself. To us Neal epitomizes what it means to be Young & Unafraid. - The Moth & The Flame

Neal Unger continues to defy the odds and prove that you can, in fact, teach an old dog new tricks. The beginner skateboarder gave TMTF a word of advice saying "...when your knees and joints are weak most people think you need to coddle them. But the best thing you can do is high impact activities."

Maybe we'll see The Moth & The Flame and Neal "The Dude" Unger at next year's X Games! But until then...
