Al Michaels traded for a cartoon character?

"Epic Mickey 2: The Power of Two" hits stores this week, but unless you’re a hardcore Disney expert, you’re probably looking at the playable character list and wondering just who this Oswald The Lucky Rabbit is, let alone his connection to the sports world.

Turns out, Oswald was created back in 1927 by Walt Disney when Walt was working for Universal. The studio played hardball over negotiations for the next year’s series of Oswald cartoons, hiring away all of Walt’s animators and explaining how they owned the rights to his character due to the wording in his Universal contract. In response, Walt Disney quit his job, created Mickey Mouse, and the rest is history.

But it’s not the whole story. Click on the video to see AL Michaels’ involvement, and how a Monday Night Football contract in 2006 ended up bringing Oswald back to the Walt Disney family after all these years.
