New Orleans, the land of shrimp po-boys, pralines and beads aplenty, is hosting the Super Bowl.

And if anybody knows how to throw a Southern-fried party, it’s this place, which has hosted nine Super Bowls in years past. The celebrity VIP scene will be cranked. Famous faces expected to be seen out and about include Justin Timberlake, Lil Wayne and Solange (and Beyonce!) Knowles.

Here’s a look at some of those money-can’t-buy-you-a-ticket events you’ll surely be hearing about over the next few days.

EA Sports Madden Bowl

Location: Wyndham Riverfront New Orleans

The scene: This party kicks off the entire weekend. Top NFL players will be in the house to test out video games, and hip-hop superstar (and New Orleans native) Lil Wayne will perform. NFL players and veterans expected to attend include Drew Brees, Mark Ingram, Arian Foster, Victor Cruz and Troy Aikman. Denard Robinson and Eddie Lacy could make an appearance, too.

Eighth-annual NFL Super Bowl Celebrity Bowling Classic

Location: AMF All Star Lanes in Kenner, La.

The scene: There is a golf classic Friday, but we’re guessing the most fun is had at the bowling event. As usual, captains of teams will include current and former NFL stars and members of the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
