Charissa Thompson, host of ESPN's "SportsNation," has been tapped, along with actor Joey Lawrence, to host "Splash," the new celebrity diving show on ABC.
The contestants showing off their diving skills are basketball Hall of Famer Kareem Abdul-Jabbar; Detroit Lions defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh; extreme skier Rory Bushfield; comedian Louie Anderson; former "Baywatch" star Nicole Eggert; Nickelodeon star Drake Bell; Chelsea Handler sidekick Chuy Bravo; Keshia Knight Pulliam, formerly of "The Cosby Show"; Miss USA top-10 finalist Katherine Webb; and Kendra Wilkinson of "The Girls Next Door."
The show, premiering March 19, marks the first time celebrities will compete in regulation platform and springboard diving. Each dive will be critiqued by two judges: U.S. diver David Boudia, who won the Olympic platform gold medal at the 2012 London Games, and USA Diving high-performance director Steve Foley, a three-time Olympian from Australia.
Thompson is not the first ESPN personality to host an ABC show. "SportsCenter" anchor John Anderson has co-hosted the daredevil reality show "Wipeout" since 2008.
