Ron Perlman talks about SAGF golf tourney

The Screen Actors Guild Foundation on Monday will host its third annual golf classic, a charity tournament benefiting the Foundation’s Catastrophic Health Fund and Assistance Programs.

The Golf Classic brings together golf enthusiasts from the entertainment industry and beyond to raise funds for the foundation.

“If passion were talent, I would be a scratch golfer,” said tournament host Ron Perlman, known for his roles in "Hellboy" and "Beauty and the Beast" TV series. “When I realized I couldn’t be any good, I just started to have fun.”

Supporters of this year’s “Actors Fore Actors” tournament include Dave Annable, George Clooney, Kevin Nealon, Greg Itzin, Dennis Haysbert, Ray Romano and Tim Allen, among others.

“I can’t think of a more fun way to do good for a worthy charitable endeavor,” Perlman said. “There is a real emotional component of this foundation, which does very much to help people in my profession.”

With the support of the entertainment community and sponsors during the past two Golf Classics, the SAG Foundation has been able to raise more than $500,000 to help fund its charitable initiatives.
