Yearbook, Sept. 28: Best baseball night ever

Sept. 28, 2011: First, the Atlanta Braves lost in 13 innings, completing a stunning 10.5-game collapse and allowing the (eventual World Series champion) St. Louis Cardinals to sneak into the playoffs.

And that was just the start. Twenty minutes later, a Jonathan Papelbon blown save in Baltimore sent the Orioles onto the field in celebration -- even though the home team was well out of playoff contention. That's just how much they relished beating the Boston Red Sox, who just three minutes later watched the Tampa Bay Rays -- who trailed the New York Yankees 7-0 going into the eighth inning that night -- blaze into the postseason on an Evan Longoria walk-off home run in the 12th.
