Yearbook, Oct. 26: Sox reverse the curse

Oct. 26, 2005: Lost amid the misery felt by Boston Red Sox fans (until 2004) and Chicago Cubs fans (still) was some profound suffering done by supporters of the Chicago White Sox, who won the World Series in 1917, were stained by the Black Sox scandal of 1919, then ... nothing.

That is, until this day seven years ago, when Ozzie Guillen's crew sealed a Series sweep -- and a downright demolition of playoff competition (Chicago went 11-1) -- with a 1-0 victory over the helpless-to-stop-them Houston Astros.

Finally, the cursed Windy City could celebrate. At least some of it could, anyway.
