Morning Links: Playoffs hopes fading

SAN DIEGO -- Good morning. In this ESPN Insider piece, Danny Tuccitto of Football Outsiders examines the playoff chances of contending teams in the NFC and the AFC. At 4-6 overall, the Chargers have a six percent chance of reaching the playoffs according to the report. Tuccitto writes that San Diego’s postseason chances were cut in half by the team’s loss to Miami. The Jets are projected to claim the No. 6 seed in the AFC with a 29 percent chance of making the postseason.

Elliot Harrison of NFL.com believes former Chargers coach Don Coryell and safety Rodney Harrison will be among the 25 semifinalists for the Pro Football Hall of Fame, which will be announced at 10 p.m. ET Wednesday.

Rob Rang of NFLDraftScout.com has San Diego selecting Oklahoma State cornerback Justin Gilbert at No. 15 overall in his latest mock draft. Rang’s colleague, Dane Brugler, gives the Chargers Alabama offensive tackle Cyrus Kouandjio.
