Morning Links: Te'o has foot surgery

Michael Gehlken of U-T San Diego writes that a San Diego Chargers team spokesman confirmed that middle linebacker Manti Te’o recently had foot surgery after photos surfaced from an Instagram account linked to Te’o showing his foot in a cast.

Te’o missed most of the preseason and the first three games of the regular season with what was reported last year as a sprained foot. He started 13 games in his rookie season, finishing with 61 tackles in 504 snaps played.

Te’o showed resiliency by playing the entire season, including two playoffs games, on a hobbled foot. Now that he had surgery, along with the experience of his first NFL season, Te’o should take another step in development during his second season.
