Chargers bring back OL Rich Ohrnberger

In a move to improve depth along the interior of the team’s aging offensive line, the San Diego Chargers announced the team re-signed Rich Ohrnberger to a one-year deal.

The Penn State product visited the New York Jets last week.

Ohrnberger, 28, can play all three interior offensive line positions, and ably filled in for injured center Nick Hardwick in San Diego’s postseason win in Cincinnati.

A fourth-round selection by the New England Patriots in the 2009 draft, Ohrnberger signed a one-year deal with San Diego as an unrestricted free agent last offseason. Ohrnberger saw action in 13 games, including one start, and played a total of 144 snaps on offense during the regular season.

Hardwick played at a Pro Bowl level last season, but played through a nagging neck injury and will turn 33 in September. Starting right guard Jeromey Clary also battled through injuries, and turns 31 in November.
