Must happen: Get back on track offensively. The Saints are going to score their share of points. They always do. But the 49ers are going to have put pressure on New Orleans by bouncing back offensively. During a five-game win streak -- one that ended Sunday at home against Carolina -- the 49ers scored at least 31 points in every game. However, the 49ers settled for just three field goals in a 10-9 loss to the Panthers. The 49ers had just 45 yards in the second half, including four yards in the fourth quarter. The 49ers will need to be much better in New Orleans.
Can't happen: San Francisco can’t allow the Saints to control the clock like they did in a blowout home win over Dallas on Sunday. The Saints set an NFL record with 40 first downs. The 49ers’ defense has been stout this season, so the Saints likely won’t have that easy of a time. But if New Orleans is again in control like that, the 49ers will have no chance of avoiding losing back-to-back games for the second time this season.
