Greg Roman says focus is on 49ers

SANTA CLARA, Calif. -- Greg Roman’s options are increasing.

CBS Sports has reported the 49ers’ offensive coordinator will interview with Penn State for its head-coaching opening. Roman reportedly interviewed for the Penn State job two years ago.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported Monday that Washington and Minnesota has requested permission to talk to Roman about their head-coaching jobs.

UPDATE: Schefter reported Wednesday that Roman interviewed with Penn State officials Monday in Chicago. The 49ers won at Green Bay in the wild-card round Sunday evening.

ESPN.com asked Roman about the Penn State job Wednesday as he came off the field after the 49ers’ walk-through practice in preparation for Sunday’s divisional round game at Carolina. Roman said the only job he is focusing on is his with the 49ers.

Meanwhile, offensive assistant Paul Wulff confirmed the Bay Area News Group he will take the position of offensive coordinator at South Florida at the end of the season.

Defensive coordinator Vic Fangio and defensive line coach Jim Tomsula have also been connected to some NFL head-coaching jobs. 49ers coach Jim Harbaugh said he is not worried about the focus of any of his assistants this week as the 49ers prepare to play at Carolina in the NFC divisional playoffs.
