Head-coaching dominoes starting to fall

SANTA CLARA, Calif. -- The Washington Redskins are hiring Jay Gruden as head coach on Thursday. ESPN’s Adam Schefter previously reported that the Redskins had interest in 49ers offensive coordinator Greg Roman and defensive coordinator Vic Fangio.

Roman has also received interest from the Minnesota Vikings and Penn State. He may learn his fate with Penn State, with whom he interviewed this week for the second time in two years, soon. Multiple reports say Vanderbilt coach James Franklin is mulling an offer and a decision should come Thursday.

Along with Roman, the Vikings also have interest in 49ers’ defensive line coach Jim Tomsula, although an interview has not yet been set up.
