Harbaugh relents on pants; wife wins

SANTA CLARA, Calif. -- Score one for Sarah Harbaugh.

A day after Jim Harbaugh's wife called a San Francisco radio station to talk about her husband’s traditional wardrobe, the San Francisco 49ers coach relented.

At his news conference, four days before the 49ers play at the Seattle Seahawks in the NFC title game, Harbaugh revealed he was wearing flat-fronted Dickies slacks. They cost $23 on sale.

"Happy wife, happy life," Harbaugh said.

Tuesday, Sarah Harbaugh told KMVQ 99.7 FM that she is tired of her husband's wardrobe which consists of a black 49ers sweatshirt tucked into pleated khaki pants. Sarah Harbaugh said when she threw out her husband’s favorite pants, he went to a Wal-Mart in Indianapolis prior to the NFL combine to buy a new pair -- for $8.

"I’ve told him so many times: That outfit reflects on me," she told the radio station.

While he compromised on the pants, Harbaugh is sticking to his guns on tucking his sweatshirt in.

"I’ll be an innovator," he said.
