Tuesday, in an Insider piece, ESPN.com looked at the biggest question every NFL team is facing in the offseason. Here are the three biggest questions facing the San Francisco 49ers in my opinion:
1. New deals: The 49ers have several key cogs to lock up. The most pressing are quarterbacks Colin Kaepernick and coach Jim Harbaugh. Kaepernick has one year remaining on his deal and Harbaugh has two years. Neither deal absolutely has to get done this year, but it would be a lot smoother for everyone involved if there was some clarity this year.
2. Re-signs: The most pressing deals are for receiver Anquan Boldin, kicker Phil Dawson and safety Donte Whitner. They are the team’s top players who are set to become free agents in five weeks. The 49ers would like to keep all three players.
3. The draft: The 49ers are set to have 12 picks and they might end up with six picks in the first three rounds. Their first pick is No. 30. The 49ers could get younger at receiver and cornerback. Because of their cache of picks, the 49ers can easily move up in the first round to grab a top prospect.
