49ers cut lackluster Jonathan Baldwin

This is all you need to know about the impact Jonathan Baldwin made with the San Francisco 49ers -- he was waived to make room for undrafted rookie who was just cut.

The 49ers waived Baldwin on Sunday and claimed L'Damian Washington off waivers from Dallas. Baldwin was acquired last August for fellow former first-round pick, receiver A.J. Jenkins. The Chiefs took Baldwin with the No. 26 pick in 2011. The 49ers took Jenkins with the No. 30 pick in 2012.

Baldwin made no impact for the 49ers last year when the team was desperate for receivers help while Michael Crabtree missed the first 11 games of the season with a torn Achilles. Baldwin had three catches last season for 28 yards.

The 49ers are deep at receiver. Baldwin had no chance to make the team. The 49ers are without Crabtree and Brandon Lloyd for the next week or two due to minor injuries. Washington could get some practice and preseason game looks. Perhaps Washington, who played at Missouri last season, could be a practice-squad candidate.
