Police release details surrounding Bruce Miller's arrest

Details on the arrest of San Francisco 49ers fullback Bruce Miller for spousal battery, a misdemeanor, have come to light as the Santa Clara Police Department released a summary of the incident.

Officers responded to a disturbance call behind Posh Bagel in the Rivermark Plaza in Santa Clara at 11:33 p.m. March 5. Miller and a female had been arguing and Miller was arrested after allegedly pushing the female to the ground and destroying her cell phone in the incident.

No injuries were reported, the victim declined to be identified, and Miller was arrested two miles away at the Santa Clara Marriott at 11:55 p.m. and was booked at 12:11 a.m. Bail was set at $10,000.

The case against Miller, who has not been formally charged, is being reviewed by the Santa Clara County District Attorney's office with a placeholder arraignment date set for April 20.

“We understand the gravity of where we're at,” general manager Trent Baalke told reporters Wednesday.
