Chat wrap: What would Lloyd signing do?

Here are some highlights from our San Francisco 49ers' chat, which was held earlier Thursday:

RDC from Clovis: Hey Bill, the Niners are in contract talks with Brandon Lloyd. To me this seems like a whatever move, but is it more indication that the Niners will be looking to go CB first pick over WR?

Bill Williamson: It would be a make-good deal, which does not make him a sure thing to make the team. It would not change the draft approach at all.

Note: CSN Bay Area report Thursday that the 49ers are talking to Lloyd about a contract. The former 49er did not play in the NFL season.

Chris from Walnut Creek: Chris Cook's comments seem to indicate the Niners have a preference for tall, long-armed corners in the Seattle mold. Would this indicate that they are more interested in the Dennard/McGill/Jean-Bapsiste mold of corners than the Jason Verrett's?

BW: I can see both Verrett in first round and a McGill or Jean-Bapsiste in second round. Why not stack the position?

Tony from Richmond, Calif.: Is 2014 pretty much a wash for NaVorro Bowman? Meaning the linebacker won't return to his Pro Bowl until he's two years removed from his serious knee injury, if ever.

BW: Think of it like Crabtree last season. Coming back in second half of season, and being at his best for the playoff push.
