RENTON, Wash. -- If the forecasters are correct, Monday night at CenturyLink Field is going to be one cold place.
The temperature at kickoff is expected to be in the upper 30s, dropping to the low 30s as the game progresses. And snow flurries also are possible.
Those weather conditions could benefit the Seattle Seahawks. New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees is 4-8 in his career (including playoffs) when the game-time temperature is less than 40 degrees.
Cold weather and some precipitation would hinder the Saints' passing game and play into the hands of Seattle’s power running game with Marshawn Lynch.
And if the game is close in the fourth quarter, the Seahawks usually get the job done. They’ve outscored their opponents by 91 points in the fourth quarter over the past two seasons at home, the best in the NFL.
